Hi all,
i just got this Soldbuch a few days ago. Iam not a Soldbuch collector at all and so i think it would be a good idea to check it up here on the Forum.
Any opinions on the book are welcome.
I personaly think its a good one, but i haven´t handled many of them.
I would be also interested in an approximate Value since it can be that i sell the book some time.
If anybody knows any detail about the exat unit the guy served in, that would be more than nice.
He (Willi Plotzitzka) was recruted very late in the war (20.10.44) with the age of 17.
After research at the Volksbund site i know that he died some 80 days later on 8.1.45. He is buried at the cemetary of Andilly (France).
The date from 20.10.44 - 8.1.45 would fit well with the Battle of the Bulge in the Ardennes. It is my believing that he fought and died there.
He served with the "Divisions Begleit Kompanie" of 12. SS Hitlerjugend.
If anybody could tell me if this unit was involved in the Bulge that would be nice. I know that the Divisions Begleit Kompanie was attached to Kampfgruppe Waldmüller in the Normandy battle.
There are no big entrys in the book at all, but i can read that he carried a M.Pi. 44 and a Nahkampfmesser (Close Comabt Knife).
Again, any info about that unit in this time frame would be highly appricated.
A value would be nice as well.
Thanks Jens
