Question about Truppenausweis. (and strange arbeitsbuch)

    Hello,
I receifed today a lot of very interesting german ID's.

Among them where these 2 interesting papers, where I have some questions about.

Where was this Truppenausweis for? What was the purpose?

At the other foto's, you see a (to me) strange Arbeitsbuch.I never saw such a Arbeidsbuch. I also got a "normal" arbeitsbuch of the same person, dated a few months after this one

This Abrbeitsbuch is dated 27-05 -1936 . Can anyone tell me, what this is for a strange Arbeitsbuch, and why he got it (in the beginning) instead of the normal Arbeidsbuch??

    Greetings,
    Frank!

Above the eagle you can read "Gott mit uns" , like on the buckles.

            Hello,
I found on Germanmilitaria.com, what an Truppenausweis exacly is:

Is the value really that high?

I still hope someone can help me with the Arbeitsbuch!

            Greetings,
            Frank!
            H58553 TROOP'S IDENTIFIC
            ATION CARD.
(Truppenausweis) BACKGROUND: Prior to the introduction of the Soldbuch in the autumn of 1939 active military personnel were issued with the Truppenausweis, (Troop Identification), card which was intended to act as identification and record particulars about the individuals service. As the Truppenausweis was only a dual fold, four page document it became clear to the Oberkommando der Wehrmacht, (High Command of the Armed Forces), that it was unsuitable to register all the potential information required by the administrative authorities which led to the Truppenausweis being replaced with the larger more comprehensive Soldbuch. PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Roughly, 5 3/4" x 4 1/8", dual-fold blue oilcloth Troop Identification card with black printed script and handwritten and typed particulars. The card has a black and white, inkstamped photo of the recipient in an M36 field blouse. The visible uniform details include the first pattern, (circa 1935-1938), pointed tip shoulder straps with no waffenfarben, collar tabs and a breast eagle. The script indicates the individual began his active military service on "2. 5. 35", and includes his personal statistics along with his promotions, from, "Oberschtz.", to, "Gefreiten", to, "Obergfreiter", and finally to "Unteroffizier". The card also has six dated boxes with the yearly dates running from "1936", to "1941", with each box being divided into quarters to accept inspection inkstamps. The 1936, 1937, 1938 dated boxes each have four quarterly inspection inkstamps and the 1939 dated box has three quarterly inspection inkstamps. The printed script also includes, "Inhaber ist berechtigt, Waffen zu führen. Alle militärischen und zivilen Dienststellen werden ersucht, ihm nötigenfalls Schutz und hilfe zu gewähren.", (Holder is authorized to carry weapons. All military and civil service departments will provide protection and assistance to him if requested.), and the typed script includes, "Inhaber wurde am 10. 11. 38 zur 3. Komp. Inf. Regt. 87 versetzt,", (Holder was transferred to 3RD Company 87TH Infantry Regiment on 10. 11. 38.). The handwritten and typed entries have the authorizing signature of an, "Oblt. und Komp. Chef." with the units inkstamp. The card has two punched holes near one edge for inclusion in a binder and shows minor chafe wear. Scarce, early, military identification card.

Your Truppenausweis is quite hard to read from that image. It looks like Schuetze [can't make out his first name ...?] Muller entered the military on 1 Oct. 1937 and was assigned to 11./IR 7. Company 11 would belong to the 3rd battalion. The commander/adjutant's name is H......undorf. I suppose the Truppenausweis was issued to him after grundausbuildung and perhaps heimaturlaub (just a guess since he joined up in the last quarter of 1937, but the first quarter of 1938 is stamped).

Private/Schuetze Muller was born on 26 June 1915 in Pozen or Posen (looks like a "z" to me); he was 161cm tall with a slim build, oval face, brown hair, no beard, and blue eyes.

              Cheers,
              Guy Power

Sorry, but I cannot answer your question as I don't know about documentation (but am trying to learn). The Suetterlinschrift is a killer to read! The Arbeitsbuch was issued to Hans Hilgers in Hameln on 27 March 1936.

                Cheers and good luck,

                  Hello!

Thanks a lot for your help! It's all correct.
It's not everything, I got from this owner. I have also his Wehrpass.

Now comes the strange part. The Wehrpass didn't had a cover. It had the cover of his Entnazifizierte Soldbuch around it. (his name was inside the cover) That must have happend at the end, or after the war.

I do not have the rest. His entries are very interesting. He was first in the RAD, after that, he stayed in the army, untill he had to leave it in 1942 because of injuries caused by a grenade. In 1943 we went in the ersatz Reserve.

I posted more photo's. It might be interesting to see. What I like, is that the Wehrpass belonged to a active soldier. Just look at the places where he fought. I found that very interesting.
He fought at the Mosel and Rhine river, at the Marginotlinie, at the occopation of France, at the Stalinlinie. I can't read it all.

                  greetings,
                  Frank!

He became in 1938 Oberschutze, in 1939 Gefreiten and in 1940 Obergefreiten

I received one a couple of days ago, a smaller double sided document with photo, to a NCO of an infantry MG company who joined the army in 1914, stamps on the back of the document are for the early 20's, cost me 45 euros.
I don't know how desirable that is compared to the one in your link, but I know which one I'm prepared to buy & which one I would'nt even consider buying at the price asked.

                            Hello,
                            you're totally right.
The Truppenausweis was the early version of "Soldbuch", and there where much less Truppenausweise as Soldbucher, so it would make his value higher.( when you look only at the numbers that where made)

Its ofcourse much simpler compared to the Soldbuch. That's why I would estimate the value also not above 75 Euro.

                            About the Arbeitsbuch.

Could it be a Local-Version? Perhaps one made by the local authority's?

                            Greetings,
                            Frank!

                              Sicherung des generalgouvernments.

Securing the General-gouvernment. Or perhaps "Generalgouvernment's Security [force]"?

The ending "s" in generalgouvernments appears to indicate possessive voice instead of plural. I didn't formally learn German, and I've forgotten most of what I used to know.

The Warsaw Ghetto was finally established by the German Generalgouverneur of Poland (Click link for more info and facts about Hans Frank) Hans Frank on October 16, 1940. At this time, the population of the Ghetto was estimated to be about 380,000 people, about 30% of the population of Warsaw. However, the size of the Ghetto was about 2.4% of the size of Warsaw. Nazis then closed off the Warsaw Ghetto from the outside world on November 16th that year, building a wall. During the next year and a half, Jews from smaller cities and villages were brought into the Ghetto, while diseases (especially (Serious infection marked by intestinal inflammation and ulceration; caused by Salmonella typhosa ingested with food or water) typhoid) and starvation (rations for Jews were officially limited to just 184 kcal per day, as opposed to 1,800 for Poles and 2,400 for Germans in Warsaw) kept the inhabitants at about the same number.
