Another CCC Wehrpass from.... yes the 1 Panzer Division

Our lad is Ernst Müller who was born in Langenholzen on July 14th, 1.919. He was protestant and I need help to figure what was his occupation. He was single, something he fixed on November 24, 1.942 when he married Margarete, something that, for sure, make his father Otto and his mother, help please(maiden name Wolf, relative to the Führer when he was in disguise?), very happy.

As normal he registered with W.B.K. Eisenach on July 19th, 1.938 in preparation for his military service. He was a productive member of the society as he was working with an Arbeitsbuch number 234L/1105i, all after attending 8 years to the Volkschule.

As normal he was declared fit for Ersatreserve I on the same date as the Wehrpass was open.

He was not one of those who skip the R.A.D. service and he wore the brown uniform from June 1st, 1.939 till July 11th, 1.939, a very little time, just enough to take oath to the Fúhrer on June 11th and little more I guess.

He presented himself in Weimar on January 10th, 1.940 to serve with 1.E.Komp. Schtz.Ers.Btl.1 where he passed the medical exam on 17th and took oath again on 27th, so he was now a proud member of the Heer with seniority from January 10th.

He was trained in this unit from January 10th till March 31st.
Further training with 2./Schtz.Ers.atl. 1 from April 1st till April 28th where he learned to use the Kar98k, l.M.G. 34 and the P08.
Now a gap as further entry is:
From May 28th till June 21st, 1.940 with the same unit.
Just the day the weapons went quiet on the Western Front he was transfer to his first combat unit.
    From June 22nd, 1.940 till November 5th, 1.940 with III/S.R. 1
    - Promoted to Oberschutze on October 1st, 1940
    From November 6th, 1.940 till May 31st, 1.942 with 1./S.R. 1
    - Promoted to Gefreiter on December 1st, 1.940
    - Wounded by grenade shrapnel on his right upper arm on August 14th, 1.941 while fighting alongside the train line from Narva to Leningrad under Oberleutnant Berndt, I think he was not evacuated as neither an interruption on his battle calendar nor a transfer to a non combat unit to recover.
    - Awarded the Panzer Assault Badge in bronze on September 24th, 1.941
    - Awarded the Iron Cross 2nd class on the same date
    - Promoted to Obergefreiter on May 1st, 1.942
    From June 1st, 1.942 till July 14th, 1.942 with 1./S.R. 113
From July 15th, 1.942 till December 9th, 1.943 with the same unit under new name 1./Panzergrenadier Regiment 113
    - Promoted to Unteroffizier on August 1st, 1.942
    - Awarded the Wound Badge in Black on the same date
    - Awarded the Ostmedaille on the same date
    - Signed for 4 and a half year service on July 3rd, 1.943 and confirmed still to serve 2 and a half year on September 15th, 1.943 well into 1.946 when ended his contract.

After almost a year resting and refiting in the sunny France and Greece he was back into the cauldron of the Eastern Front, but not for long time.

He was killed in action on December 9th, 1.943 in Iskra where he was interred.

Posthumously he was awarded the Nahkampfspange in bronze on January 9th, 1.944. Note that his family was unaware of this medal when they put the necrological in the newspaper.

Another young life wasted, a grieving family and a young widow left behind and he interred in the vast lands of Ukraine.

As a more tragic note he was not able to see his seven month old son, even one single time.

        Hello Angel,
thanks for showing us this Wehrpass!
It's sad to know, that a lot of kids never had the chance to see their father and vice versa during the war.
