Thought that I might get your opinion of this Wehrpas.

Wouldn't he be a little too old....

....for service in the ss?At the outbreak of war he would have been 43,surely too old at that early stage?Just my opinion.
    Kind Regards,

        Prinz Eugen

        Hi Hans,

I do not like the additional SS stamps => Someone has tried to upgrade this piece IMHO ( I always shy away when I see to many times the same stamp => in this case the Prinz Eugen, and especially on non fitting places => the cover )

        Just my opinion

Lads, Thanks! I thought it was a little weird as well with the stamps, but I got this before I found you guys. So you guys think the Prinz Eugen stamps are bogus then? It doesn't matter to me one way or the other as all I look for is an honest assessment. I am not very experienced on anything Third Reich at this point so your knowledge and opinions are gold to me! Thanks again! Presley

On the bottom scan, I can see the watermark : "Reicharbeitdienst". I dont think Prinz Eugen division was part of this organisation....

              Hi,

Could you tell us where you got the wehrpass...I'm sure I've seen it before somewhere, possibly e-bay. Hope you didn't pay too much for it.

Jean Loup - the RAD watermark is found in all wehrpasses (only the RAD pages of course) whether they are genuine SS or not.

              Cheers,
              Gary.

Gary, I got the Wehrpass off of e-Bay. I paid $20.00 for at the beginning of the year. I can't remember the sellers ID name and the item is no longer in the data base. You live and learn. Thanks lads!

Good to hear you didn't pay over the odds for it!

Another give away that this Wehrpass is bogus, is that the holder is from the Reich (Pfalz). Most members of the Prinz Eugen division were Volksdeutsche (Ethnic Germans) from Croatia, Serbia & Rumania!
I have never seen Wehrpasses stamped with regimental stamps on the cover, only with the Arm of Service e.g. Heer, Luftwaffe or Waffen-SS.

Could you scan some of the other pages just for the sake of interest? I'd like to see the unit and battle entries.

                      thanks
