Dear All,
I thought I would share this nice but "ordinary" SB with you, I've had it for a while but have never really had chance to really look at it until recently.
Johann Brenner was born on the 3rd of February 1912 in Munich. A second issue SB which was issued to Johann on the 27th December 1940 by Pioneer Platoon, Infantry Rgt 217.
The SB has a nice photo of Johann with him wearing an M-42 uniform with Inf.Pionier Ersatz Kp.148 slip-on devices on his shoulderboards. Interesting this photo had been used in another document prior to been placed into his sb in September 1944.
On the 25th January 1942 it appears that he was hospitalised with frostbite to his left hand, whilst serving in Russia. After returning to the field he was wounded by a bullet {31a} on the 16th August 1942 and it would appear that/I assume that it must have been quite serious as he was in various hospitals until the 8th of February 1944.
He received the Black Wound Badge and got the document on the 9th of December 1942 from the Army Medical section in Metz.
