Interesting EK2/Ostfront bar

Or should I say, "Ostfront/EK2 bar"?
I picked up this interesting bar recently, especially attracted to it since the medals were out of award order.
After carefully examining it I noticed tool marks around the pins holding the ribbons to the backing plate of the bar, which suggested to me that the bar had been disassembled and then reassembled backwards.
With the answer of “how?” seemingly answered, the only remaining question would be “why?”

Do you think maybe the original ribbons were damaged and someone replaced them in the wrong order?

this looked well aged. I would vote that somebody just touched it and forgot how it was assembled.
