I am of the understanding this type of case is a well known reproduction? Add artificially aged as well. Is my understanding correct?

These replica cases are all over the place, particularly e-bay, a bit of sanding and dirt and they sell for more far more than a nice shiny new one!!
beggars belief in the naievaty of some buyers.
