    Giant Iron Cross marked L12 (Junker) infornation please!

    Hi All,
    I have just come across this giant Iron Cross (over 60 cms......2 feet high, not sure of the exact dimensions might be a little more or less).
    It is marked L12 (Junker) and must have been some sort of display example, but I really don't know. It has a heavy iron cross mounted on a solid wooden base, with the 'ribbon' (from metal) attached to a metal ring above the Cross....please see photos for a more accurate image.
    Condition is excellent with slight damage to the wooden base.
    What was this Cross used for? Any ideas? Anyone seen anything similar?

    Dont like it sorry. Dont think its period. Quality and marking all seem wrong.

      Not original ... post war L/12 mark .
      Looks like the '3' has been replace/redone ???

        To me, it appears to be some sort of a prop. Certainly not period done.

            To me it looks like a genuine shop display. Why it is marked L/12 is strange.

              Giant Iron Cross

              Firstly I would like to thank everyone who has responded.
              What I also would like to say is that although as yet I haven't managed to really examine the Cross due to only very briefly seeing it I simply cannot imagine why a giant cross like this would be produced with such accuracy and detail after WW2? It simply doesn't make sense.......who would buy or use it, and for what?
              What I think is causing the varied opinions is that it is DIFFERENT, out of the ordinary, not the usual run of the mill standard item. How many of you have seen a similar item?
              I personally feel it was made as a show piece or a display probably by Junker because of the L/12 manufacture mark, but perhaps not, but there just doesn't seem to be any logical reason to make it after the War. I hasten to add that I am in no way very knowledgable regarding Iron Crosses - but common sense and logic is something different which I can apply. Time will possibly tell what it is and on this coming Wednesday I will have the chance to have a really close look and discover more, and then decide what I will do about it.

                Many strange products from "the war decorations department" were made after the war. Why? Because someone wanted, either invented something, etc ... or wanted to sell at a profit - and this was the most common reason (!)
                For me too, it's a post-war product, sorry.

                      marking is strange, but an L/12 display would answer that. Someone took a while building that, but I agree with D. I'd say this is authentic (and awesome)

                        I could imagine seeing this in a shop window, a display piece for Juncker.

                        I think it could very well be period.
