    Second Class Iron Cross

    Hey guys. I read if black paint is on the silver part, it means it was painted after the fact and is not a 3 piece cross. This seems to have that. Opinions?

    While overspray is not a sign of a of a fake or one-piece construction but rather a byproduct of the manufacturing process, it is a sign of an ugly fake in this particular case!

      Do you say that because there could be an authentic iron cross that someone tried to restore by painting?

          No, it is not in general a sign of restored paint but rather a sign of the regular finishing process.

            If the iron center is painted, then the top and bottom pieces attached, how could black paint get on the silver parts?
