EK2 Deschler-unusual MM

I recently acquired an Deschler EK2...it shows all the markings of a good Deschler. However, the MM stamp on the ring runs perpendicular with the ring, rather than parallel.

Has anyone ever seen that before? All of the Deschler examples I can find pictures of on the web have the "1" running parallel.

I will try to post some pics later on this evening.

I started looking through some old archived web pics that I had stashed on my hard drive, and did come across a "1" with a similar MM direction on the ring.

I guess it was a bit of an anomoly, but Deschler apparently did mark some this way.

The other thing about this cross is that the core is a bit loose....which is also interesting.

it is heavier and thicker than other EK 2 that I have...another good sign for a good Deschler, as I understand it.

For me it's a discovery!
For the first time I see the Deschler's cross EK2-1939 with the signature stamped transversely, not longitudinally.
IMO it's the new type of cross EK2-1939 in classification of this manufacturer
