EK1 "Schinkel"-for review

I would like to get an opinion about this early EK1. It seems to be good magnetic Deumer, "Schinkel" type. As far I know, classical Deumer-Schinkels should have catches in "pig tail" shape made of round wire. This Cross has catch made of non-magnetic rectangular wire. Was Deumer using two types of wire or the rectangular one is the replacement? If it is a replacement, then it is very well done, No traces of re-soldering.

Catch is original to this cross.

Never studied them in depth, but textbook isn't always textbook.

Sometimes other parts were used, due to shortage or whatever other reason.
I don't have a problem with it.

Many makers also used different pins and catches

I own a Deumer 1st class schinkel non magnetic in a clam shell screw back and a 2nd EK schinkel, non magnetic.

My theory as to why these early EK's were non-magnetic is that there was some sort of shortage of iron in the first months of the war.

Opinions?

Makers early in the war continued the lax practices of the interwar period: use whatever was cheapest or easiest. One piece stamped? OK. Brass cores? No problem. Leftover frames? Why not. Then the authorities realized that the crosses were not at all standardized and they imposed some rules, created the LDO and PKZ, and made all the makers conform. Iron cores (really, they were steel) was one of these standards.
