    EK2 top rings

    hello guys,
Ive been going through some of the old posts, and i came across a thread started by bill gracie on an ek2 he was trying to get an opinion on.One of the contributors said he felt suspicious of the ek because the top ring on the reverse view didnt appear to go through the frame.

I was always of the opinion that the top rings on ek2,s were always soldered on to the frame, not inserted through a hole in the frame.I understand some eks have the hump, and also dont have the hump. And also some have the locator spots as well in the middle of the top frame, but i assumed in all types the ring was still soldered on.

    Am i correct?

    regards keifer

I'm not sure what you mean by "top ring", but I am going to ass-sume you mean the "jump ring" and not the ribbon suspension loop...

Both are extant, apparenty. A glance through Gordon Williamson's fine book The Iron Cross of 1939 shows a variety of EK2's with the jump ring both inserted through and soldered to the top of the frame.

As far as the "locator spot" goes, I believe there is also a reference in the book on these, but I can't find it now. I seem to remember that these locator spots were a time-and-expense saving technique on a manufacturer's part so the frames could be used on both EK1's and 2's?
