$50... best find of the MAX show

    Hi guys,

The colour faded and slightly corroded obverse that would scare any minty-mint collector off couldn't avert Giel Van Wassenhove at the MAX show 2019

Probably the latest spange Hymmen produced (an I think the first zink one that is known?) Marked with the L/53 and provided with a waffle kind of crimp. It's impossible for me to imagine how they were able to crimp in such a thin planchet without breaking it. Maybe this was also the reason we never saw a simular one pop up...

I was very happy to find this, $50 was enough to make me smile the entire day

    Regards
    Giel

After a little search in becomes clear that Dietrich himself already made the discovery in 2004

      spange

First L/53 without veins that I have seen. With a little bit of cleaning it should like nice. Nice find Giel. Jim

        Hi Giel,

Great spange, very typical Hymmen product with the amauterish eagle design, small maker mark in a box and crimped hardware. The cross hatching on the crimps is also another signature of H&CL, so completely believable and original IMO. Well spotted my friend! No doubt others picked it up, only to put it down again thinking it was a crappy quality fake.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little
