    The 2 Juncker - tear drop - cores :

To the challenge from members here that there is only one tear drop core die ...
I redid the comparison with out shadows around the date and included the center emblem this time .

There are without a doubt 2 different tear drop core masters that were produced and used .
A lot of differences in number positioning - flange - emblem - date layout ... high and low 3 ... regular and crammed date .

    Hi Douglas

Indeed, you may be right, but better comparative photos could be useful ...

This pictures are absolute all that is needed .
      Both are different :
On 1 the last nine sits lower
On 2 the last 9 sits higher -- clearly to be seen an the number flange positioning
and also where the bottom of the 9 cut out is - as shown in the comparison .
#1 - The spot where the flange on the number meets the base of the core sits higher than on the last 9 !
#2 - Here the 3 and the last 9 are just the opposite .
Dies are hardened quit well - - individual -- numbers do not start moving or 'traveling" independently on there own during use .

Sorry, but when I look longer at these two crosses, it seems to me, that the noticeable differences are due to the wear of the core matrix

These dies are very hard - they chip and crack .
Wear does not make the numbers - spread out or crunch together .

One picture I realise now I did not post with the last one . We have 2 dies with different individual number placements .
With each die wear the number appearance may change but not the number placement to each other . We have 2 different core dies .
