    EKII ribbon width

    Hello all,
I recently acquired mm55 and mm65 EKII's and noticed their respective ribbon widths are smaller than usual. I checked the forum history for some comparisons and am still a little shaky on a definitive answer. Do y'all think it is normal for them to be approx. 25-26mm wide?? My other ones are 30mm wide. Thanks for the help guys.

Please don't laugh at me if my rookie answer is incorrect, but if I remember correctly, I thought at least the type A schinkel forms came with a thinner ribbon?

There's nothing wrong with the narrower ribbon. I have several of them.

I posed this same question a couple weeks ago.

My initial conclusion was that the narrower ribbon, while authentic, was only intended for use in ribbon bars and the tunic button hole. My suspicion is that the wrong size ribbon was occasionally paired with crosses post-war. I welcome anyone who can offer additional insight.

          Regards,
          Brad

I always thought that the thinner ribbon was for medal bars!!!
I have a schinkel cross with a thin ribbon on it but I also have another cross which the ribbon is even smaller, so i changed because i was told it was for a medal bar.
or is this my lack of knowledge showing! lol

              My 26mm ribbon

Here is an ek2 with a 26mm ribbon, with a 3/4 size suspension ring. What I have been told is that the smaller ribbon was used in conjunction with the smaller ring, for use on medal bars and/or parade mounts. I also have another full size cross,a round three with the small ring. IMO the standard 30mm ribbon stuffed in the small ring looks bad. Charlie http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=154058

I have noticed the same size differences with my OST medal ribbons.
