Adam, provenance and attribution has always been problematic with what we collect. A LOT of trust is placed in someone's assertion because the heart is used rather than logic.

In the last couple of years (especially) we have seen an influx of alleged groupings that just beg to differ if one looks at the offering with an open mind.....

Here's an example of an alleged attribution that OBVIOUSLY was changed/switched between the time it left a dealer and was sold again.

Note the different loop....

So, at what point in time does the item lose the originality, provenance etc. associated with it.
