Short winged EKII Spange

I noticed Detlev had one of these for sale the other week, first one I'd seen in ages.

Does anyone know anything about these (early?) short winged variants - makers, how long they were in production etc?

The feel of this one suggests it is made of tombak.

Just finished reading a couple reference books on these...

Questions: Do you mean this is an "early version" of the "type 2" EK2 bar? I note the one you show does not have the "concave" vertical sides to the trapezoid.

Also, is it the picture, or is the wreath misshapen?

Detlev referred to it as "early", but it is not the "first type" with the scalloped date box. It is the shortened, squared-off wings that differentiate it from the normal version.
