Ribbon For Review, Open and Close End

    Dear all

Was recently receiving a questionable Ribbon for Non-Combatant EK2
The ribbon is UV light negative, which is a good sign in beginning, however
the one has one side with close end, i.e. not as we known as both sides open loops.

is this kind of ribbon indicates a modern fake or possibly an original one?
or any missing update that I didn't get?
I believe many of you have similar question about this as I do.

thank you for your comments and all welcome.

    thanks
    Eric

    Here is pictures for comparison

the right is 100% known original with both open loops ends, and yellowish tone.
the Left is the questioned for review.
    please check differences.

    thanks
    Eric

I don't like either the right or left side,of the left hand ribbon. The loops are open on the left, but the are different size loops.

Eric, it has always been my understanding that the ribbon on the left is a replacement type ribbon.

                Hi Robert and Sanya

Is this "replacement" ribbon produced before 1945?
                Or simply post 1945 reproduction?

                Thanks

Sorry for not clarifying; by ‘replacement’ I meant postwar. Somewhere on this forum a member stated that the original ribbon-making machinery that produced period ribbons was sold to another country somewhere in the world sometime after the war. Possibly someone can be of more help here...

IMO the right is an original ribbon (If it also past the burn test and not glow in the dark). IMO the weave pattern is so as it should be
IMO the left is a modern cheap fake ribbon.

Agreed, it has the 'whip stitch' that binds the edge together.
