Hello all.
I have started the search for a german LW soilder, and what he was doing during the war.
His name was Günther Hoffman.
He died a few Years ago. After the war he lived in east Gearmany, in a place named Marienburg. After the war he did destroy all he had from the war exept his medals and his parade uniform.
He also was a SS soldier, and he was decorated by AH in 1939.
I am told he did fly as many as 17 different aircrafts during the war, but doubt it, since he was stationed in Norway.
I have also been told he landed in Stavanger one week prior to the war outbrake 9. April 1940. And it is quite sure he did not come in his seaplane for a holyday trip...
He had at least two iron crosses, and others, but have not seen the medals yet. I will post photos of them after I have seen them.
What I am wondering abouth, is, is there any archives of those who reseeved the Iron Crosses? Any archive with photos?
And since he was decorated by AH, is there any chanses to find photos of that event? Do not know what medal he resseved from AH yet, but have been told it had a blue ribon and it was to be carried arround the neck.
I know this might be a shoot in to the night, but if anyone could guide me on any path, I might be able to find some more in due time.
As you all understand, I do not know anything abouth german medals.....
