EK2 mm 120 opinion and review ( a other inner core ??)

Hí guys

on the past week bought this the Franz Petz set ( cross ,wrapper paper ,ribbon & with related envelope )

Since this the type cross was to me ,I thinked ( since this a set ) the other / my old pieces / for sale, because why be two same type , but when I wanted made a foto all together ,
I then noticed that the two inner cores are not the same

this the type not my favorite maker type ,theterfore not too I have devoted much attention to this piece since it has been around for 20 years.

Possible that are there variants with more than one species of internal core from this manufacturer ?

IMO (on the pictures about the set ) this is the regular inner core type ( exist marked & unmarked types)
but the this the inner core not same .

What do you think about it ?

Hi Sanya,

My classification of this manufacturer looks as follows:

Franz Petzl (=120)
- unsigned - own core
- signed [120] - obverse core “S&L design” + reverse own core
- signed [120] - obverse core Souval type 2 + reverse core Schenkl’s (=27)
- signed [120] - own core

Nothing wrong with the classification .

Sanya was interested in those top ridges each side of the frame mounting circle .
A common S&L frame type S&L used and also supplied to other manufacturers .
The question you will ask : Why not all S&L frames have those ? -- Not all production dies had those ridges ...
... I would guess - as they are not often seen -- probably only one production die had them .

thank you for opinion ( than always) possible the this the maker bought frame parts from S&L ,but why ?? the two city between was (891 km) and was other maker too in Wien . if yes the frame always same (S&L ) ,but then the inner cores why other ?
because the inner core usually typical Franz Petzl ( pictures )type and less often S&L or by Jarek said Souval types ?

If you have the Deschler book - it is on page 46 top paragraph - various makers got a sample sent to them as instructed by Dr. Doehle -
- so that to unify the frame setup/appearance . ..... and S&L even had to send 'tooling' on request . This could include dies .
It comes down to cost . You had to buy a stamping machine -$- and have some one operate it . Design- engrave dies and send in for approval is a lot of work and cost .
S&L had a high volume frame out put and this makes for cheaper frames . Core not being important - just got from different companies .
