Schickle KC with 800 stamp.

    Hello,

    because of this new thread , I want to ask what do you think about this piece of Schickle marked with 800 ….

    I don´t know if the 800 marking was made before or after the war.

      I think they were stamped from the reseller in WW2. There are so many examples with the 800 stamp. Just imo of course.

            Well............... these 800 stamps on neusilber pieces were not stamped by the manufacturer, as to do so would have been illegal, as the pieces are not silver.

            Who stamped them? Who knows- however, it had to be after assembly of the cross and post manufacture. You can see some deformity of the frame from the stamping on a couple of the crosses below.

            Why were they stamped "800"? No idea- perhaps to mimic other RKs or to increase perceived value. However, the "800" stamps are spurious and not placed to reflect the true nature of the cross. Nonetheless, the crosses are real RKs, just with "odd", inaccurate stamps.
