EK2 Really not sure if real.

    hi all,

just got this ek2 and am not convinced it is original.

the frame looks good but the core is odd. the 1939 date on the front of the core is badly struck and the 1813 on the reverse is really flat.

the core is magentic and moves in the frame.

is this a known fake or something else?

    cheers, del.

IMO this is a original K&Q type with a wrong 1 type core variant " maybe Friday afternoon made " inner core

interesting piece ,but I like it

thanks Sanya. good to know it's original.

is it unusual for a cross like this to slip through the manufacturing process?

      cheers, del.

Maybe stolen from production. This quality would not pass through quality control IMO

Yes that core is a bad strike .... but I have worse ones .... issued pieces by S&L and Meybauer .

IMO Frankenstein = oryginal frame K&Q + secondary cast core from the original K&Q.

Agree, some problem with the depth of the core strike (shallow front, deep reverse).
              Best regards,

                thanks for all the replies.

so, the consensus is that it is an original K&Q with a badly struck core - is that correct?

                cheers, del.
