Peter - my Schinkelform is also a little oddball in that the whole reverse backplate is silver plated brass!. Mark Schroeder also has an example with a reverse plate like mine.

I beleive Frank H also has what looks like a brass plated core on his screwback Schinkelform EK1 ....

Go figure...
