          Are you sure it's a Meybauer? Those sword grips don't look like a Meybauer at all.

              Some photos from the site. It does indeed look a typical example of the "unknown maker", sometimes attributed to W&L on the basis of the single example with a correct-appearing L55 stamped into the pin.

                A couple of comparisons. In the first, on the left is the badge from the opening post and on the right is a marked Meybauer. In the second, the same cross on the left and the single L55 marked example on the right.

                      So helpl me understand the logic here. A cross found with an L55 mark exactly attributible to an EK is a "maybe" its W&L.


                      But "opinion" on the X-less cross makes it genuine wartime.


                      Good to know the modern path to originality here. Sort of a self authenticating opinion road.
