Chaps,
I purchased this 2er earlier this year, it appealed to me for obvious reasons as you can see, an EK2 with spange and a Crusade against Communism ribbon too, a most unusual ribbon bar.
I took it at face value, until recently when a friend was interested in purchasing it from me.
He did some research with some collectors who have lots of miniatures/feldspanges and he informed me that the bar may not be original.
He highlighted the difference in condition of the clasps and pins which secure the ribbon bars in place, patina on one side but on the other shiny, apparently more recent clasp/pin on the other.
Also pointed out was the strange combination, a 1914 EK2 and a Crusade against Communism award, and nothing else.
I am not, in anyway blaming the seller, as I have purchased a number of great items from him, but it does appear that this bar has been messed with at some point.
I'd very much like your opinions on it.
Thanks, Jamie
