Three Piece Non-magnetic EK 1st Class

Unfortunately the core paint has been removed at some point in time thought traces are present in the cervices. Does anyone know who the maker might be?

It looks like my Deschler & Sohn but that's just a guess. Someone will know.

100 % Deschler, and with these pins they are non-magnetic.

Thanks' guys. Is there any truth to non-magnetics being for Kreigsmarine issue? Regards, Ron.

So this is a zinc core?

I don't think so, I believe it is the same composition as the frame.

                    Imo a silver-plated brass core.

Non-magnetic was pre-LdO, has absolutely nothing to dobwith the KM

                        Thank you.

But why silver plate it? Would it make the paint stick better than just brass ?

I do think that is the reason.
A lot of early crosses have silver-plated cores, early Wiedmann ek’s even have a silver-plated iron core

I always something new to learn. When you see the early crosses where for example paint was removed on the core to show the underlaying brass, i never thought of any of them having silver plating.

                            Thank you again.

Paint especially does not hold on plain copper and tombac/brass cores . Some kind of pre-coating was necessary to avoid the paint from 'bubbling and flaking ' off .
