Iron Cross Prices

Am I missing something here?

$250 for what appears to be a corroded/rusted Souval EKI.

I love Iron Crosses as much as the next guy, but these things are not rare by any stretch of the imagination. When did prices for such pieces get so inflated?

Again, am I missing something about this cross?

I'm not sure what to make of prices in general here, I stepped in it bigtime with a few of my own asking prices so I will refrain from making any snarky remarks about this item except to say that I would ask around 150 for it in that condition were it mine. Items sell here but only at a bargain price point unless it's a rare item.

The issue of absurd prices can be found across all spectrums of our hobby just not EKs. Items such as this will be continually dropped in price until they reach their true worth to a collector who is educated.

I would not take that Souval EK1 even in case if someone wants to donate it to me. The fact that it is a Souval piece as if it were not enough but its condition is so bad that it is not even collectable because of that. Completely worthless item.

Overall I think prices have dipped a bit for the average EK1. I see at shows and some reasonable dealers sites asking between 175 and 250 depending on condition and if maker marked. Obviously if a more desirable cross like a round 3 or other more sought after variation it can be much more. TPK
