    EK2 Packet

What do you guys think of the current ek2 packets offered on Detlev's site?
Any thoughts? This company didn't make ek2's correct??

    Thanks,
    Nate

Some say they are OK and some say not.

    I'm in the not category.

There are lots of threads on the packets - a quick search should give you plenty of info.

Thanks, I must say the packets look younger than I am. I will stay away then.

        Thanks Nate,

Look, to be quite honest, I've been very critical of these packets on many a thread here on the Wehrmacht forum and there are those with a lot more experienced in this genre of items then I am.

I certainly have my own reservations but you should take council from others before you come to you own conclusions.

Whoever who would have thought that a humble paper bag would have generated so much interest.

        Regards ...

PS I still think they are fake though.

I strongly disagree with all comments above. This was a paper factory, not an EK manufacturer. The packets are good imho.

This would be a great thread for a cases and packets forum

Its a misconception that the name on a EK11 packet should correspond with the maker of the EK.

Think about the number of unmarked EK11 you find in packets with manufacturers names on.

I think the packets are OK.

              Dear Marc,

You have some interesting thoughts on this packet. It's my knowledge where these packets come from is in the remit of Bavaria, they were found at an old printers not paper mill that shut down (it went 'bust')

The name of the printers was not that on the packet that I'm aware of, and surely like the odd 'packageing' items do have they'd be marked along the lines of, 'Ge druckt' or even Druckerie.

If this is as you stay, it contradict's the convention and all other packets.

This is not a 'printer mark' place on a packet and this defies your concept (see the EK2 ribbon packet for the very best of examples). Unless, it can be proved via facts that it was a mistake print run perhaps of sorts....hence several wooden planked cases of the bundles of packets and never used. I will have to research period phone books etc and get back to you all on this.

I'd still be interested to learn more Marc as I'm aware of where they came from and if indeed we are talking about two different places perhaps, this could be interesting further !!!

I'd love to learn more !!! Can you help Marc by producing evidence to your view please ?

              Kind regards,

              Marcus

                Hey Marcus,

Did you ever get around to testing these packets on some sort of equipment that confirmed age?

You did a similar test on those 'kraft' paper packets some time ago which seemed quite conclusive.

                Regards ...

                  Hi Chris,

No I've never tested these.....I don't think theres any need to at all, I'm more than happy to accept these as original and the likely hood of the name to be an EK maker ? Not any paper mill or printers.

The next packets to get a verdict on are the 'hansen-hausen' packets , so wait out for that one, I think it will be very interesting.

On No - not those. I've purchased both with medals from Herr Niemann and they look (medal, ribbon, packet) identical to me except the spelling on the packet of course.

Gee, I wonder what you find?

Will have to set up a new thread though as we are getting away from the purpose of this one.

since I got approx 100 of these packets directly from a contact in germany I have no doubt that they are original. Many were soíled and unusable. So newly produced would be out of the question since they could be tracked back in time by this old man.
