EK and KvK question

I have a question regarding sequence of awards.

What do you make of this sequence of awards to the same soldier?

He was awarded the EKI (First class) in November 1943 and in January of 1945 he was awarded a KvK II (Second class). Does the award of a lesser medal well after the EKI make any sense to you guys or am I out of sorts on this?

Different action. Matters on what he did. In the early years he was brave in combat and got the EK1, maybe later he was awarded for helping to evacuate wounded or something. Like getting a Silver Star for heroism in Iraq and later something lesser for a lesser action...

Nothing unusual about that. The EK and KVKs were really unrelated. But the same process for each took place, in that, you required to earn the 2nd Class before award of the 1st Class for each type.

You are talking about the group at Thomas Huss??
One may actually see several times that heavy decorated officers (for example) gets the KVK for adjutant services.

Yes, it's the group that Thomas has listed.

I realise that the EK and the KvK are different decorations. I found it interesting that after the EKI award that a lesser grade KvK would be awarded that much later. You would think that the KvkII would have been first , followed by an EKII and then the EKI.
