Looking forward to the article on this GC in November's IMC.

It was also for me revealing to get hold of these papers regarding the German Cross in Diamonds. It proves that there is still a lot out there and much that one can research and discover. Unfortunately, the internet if full of false information, most of it by ignorance but some (and the more vicious type) is put out there to destroy the hobby with deliberate false information. This is especially the case with the Grand Cross of the Iron Cross.

Even though I personally don't like the onyx cross and think its core dates and swastika are sloppily tilted for such an expensive bauble, Dietrich's very well-done article in the last issue of International Militaria Collector convinces me even more that it was actually made for and owned by Goering. I guess his ego puffed up even more just by having such a unique thing. In any case, nice job, Dietrich.

            Thanks Gentry!
The Grand Cross with Onyx core I presented in the article is w/o any doubt the original item based on the original Juncker frame and the marking. Regarding the set pictured above your post I have the strongest reservations, equally as much as about the cross that Hüsken had for sale (it is gone now ....).
