KVK1 Screwback L58 Souval. Opinions please

    Hi guys

I purchased this KVK1 last week after doing my homework, I am quite confident that it is a wartime Souval (having compared others that I have seen on the web and in books)

However, another collector thinks different and this has been enough to get my brain whirring.

Although it doesn't have one of the obvious Souval flaws (right sword handle defect), I know that the company used a number of dies therefore there are different variations out there.

I welcome your opinions and thanks for your help.

    Hi Jamie,
The cross appears to be zinc? Were it tombac there should be no question as to it being a wartime example. Do you know what the weight is? If it is zinc then the best one can do is accept it as "wartime compatible" considering Souval kept up production long after the war. Having said that, were I to have a Souval in my KvK1 collection I would be comfortable with yours. It is in very nice condition.

    Chet
    Zinc stinks!

      Hi Jamie!
I do not know if your cross is original or not, but I'm skeptical. Do not forget the two other characters that I have pointed out.

      Best regards

        Hey Martin

Yeah I took note of the points on the other discussion.

It's a tombac cross and is well made.

I'm gonna wait and see what the general consensus is. If the majority opine that it is post war then I'll contact the seller

The make and pebble pattern checks out with known originals. I have no problem with this cross.

Thanks Dietrich and Dave and all the other guys for helping out.

I've just found a lovely unmarked Juncker too, it's a good month for me lol

                Hi Dietrich!
I do not agree that this type checks out with known originals, if this is an original cross by Souval then it's an unusual type and not a textbook example.

Can you show me an example of this type with pinback.

                Best regards

Yes, look in our book. Zink, pinback, same pebble pattern.

                        Hey!
I do not have your book so I can not look there, but look at this thread where there is a textbook original cross in tomback by Souval IMO.

Can anyone else on the forum show me a Souval cross of Jamie's type of cross with pinback, I've searched around but can not find any.

                        Best regards

Now it's gone 3 days and no one can show me this variation of a pinback cross or?

Can anyone show me one more of this known original cross with screwback.

                            Best regards
