    Question on EK2 ring sizes

    Hi
Please excuse me if this is a dumb question. Is the ribbon ring supposed to be of a standard size or are there big variations. The reason I ask is that the ring on a cross I have just obtained is alot smaller than others I have compared it to.I do not know the maker of the cross so am unable to search to find out if this maker has smaller rings. Is the ring a replacement? Perhaps you could help?
    Thanks

It's my understanding - and someone correct me - that if the medal originally hung from a full size medal bar, the ring would be smaller than the one used to accomodate the single suspended ribbon used on 'award day' ....

My Schinkel B for example has a small ring as the one you posted, and is parade mounted.

It's possible ring sizes varied maker to maker, I can't answer that...regardless.. very likely, this ring and cross did not start life together, and have been paired together with a length of std EK2 ribbon for sale purposes (not at all uncommon)...

I feel the ring is a replacement as ek2 suspension rings are soldered shut and well finished.Im not saying this the "absolute "rule but generally most eks are done this way.
Alot of lower grade awards came with unsoldered suspension rings such as kvk2,s but even factory unsoldered suspension rings on other awards dont show the gap yours does.

I think the ribbon looks a bit suspect as well.

You clearly have an EKII that came off of or was intended to be on a medal bar. The ribbon is of unknown origin to me.
