    Dear Fellow Members…Please help with 1939 spange's...

    Dear Fellow Members…<o =""></o>

Everybody knows my problem with 2 fakes from some dealer. I have a chance for “exchange”. Below are pictures of 2 Spanges (Bars) to Iron Cross 1914, I and II class. Could you please tell me your opinions? Thank you.

    Hi,

The EK1 Spange is a definite Floch Repro - classic bad L11. I was stung by one of these in the late 80s.

Evaluate the item, not the story and not the seller's reputation!

If you PM/contact me without the courtesy of using your first name, please don't be offended if I politely ignore you!

They're both bad. The First Class is a Floch, as Mike said. And I had two versions of the Second Class. One was marked "21" in a box, the other was marked "L/4" (a totally phony LdO designation). You can see this fake on page 463 of Gordon Williamson's book The Iron Cross of 1939.

Holy HeyZeus who is this dealer? Has the Flockster opened up a web site?

The image style looks very familiar. I'm betting it's a certain German "dealer".

Now that we see this latest group of images, I would have to agree with Mike... a very familiar style..

As a point of reference, you may wish to check out this site..

(I have been asked to edit the name of this site until Robert has settled this matter)

                    Robert,

I take it that this is the same dealer we discussed via PM the other day?

If so, try and be firm on insisiting that you get your money back in full. You may lose a little on the shipping charges, but that's almost unavoidable in most cases. Try to get back all of it first though and then if you have to relinguish on the shipping. At least you get most of it!

Persuade him that currently he doesn't really have anything of interest, but perhaps in the future and how much you really like his site and how he handles his customer. Perhaps that will work. Then take my prior advice.

FYI, many dealers will try to get you to exchange your purchase with something else instead of refunding your money. It's hard to let go of the money once they have it in their account, but insist on it and state it will affect the way you do/don't do business in the future.

                    Tim
