    EK 2 field made

Personally, I have no passion for field EK made RKs.

Does this rings a bell? I think it must be always difficult to say... Thank you for your help.

No provenance, no telling when it was done.

For such a EK II converted into a RK, I wouldm without rock solid provenance, pay less then for a standard EK II. That is because, without the provenance, this is just a EK II with a destroyed ribbon ring.

But that is just my opinion on these converted EK II.

I think Fleming has hit it on the head with this one.

Any jeweler could make one up for you at any time.

No jeweller was involved me thinks. One ring has been twisted and the other flattened to take the ribbon. A testament to the fine soldering done when the cross was made. The ring didn’t break off the flange. Ordinary messed with ekii without the photographic proof.

Wow Tony, you're right. Now that I look at how crude it is I guess I should have said that it could be done by anyone with a blob of lead solder and a soldering gun!

wait guys, dont get me wrong, I just wanted to show it.
no such hate needed. I anyway collect only classic style of EKs with standard look! :-)

However, please bear in mind it might be done post war as well as during the war. Nobody can judge, only depends on each collector evaluation IMO.

                      Yubari,
Honestly, I think the thing is great for display or to put on a mannequin. No doubt there are some that were done in wartime. I believe the point most people are getting at is not to pay very much for one. No hate intended.

Yubari, don’t take any offence as none is intended. Members are just stating their opinions on the cross: no hate intended. It is good you posted it as it has opened up a discussion and a few views which will be archived and maybe someone else with such a piece will come along and find the postings constructive.

It might be a useful point of view to treat such (without provenance) as damaged EKII’s, and expect to pay less than you would for one in good condition. This being the case it might deter some unscrupulous dealers from expecting more money for what is essentially a damaged EK, on the basis that it may have been a field issue RK, so should command a higher price.

I bet there are a few out there who would if they could take advantage of such a sale and not be above deliberately damaging other crosses in the same manner if they see it as profitable.

                        Regards
                        Norman
