Iron Cross Second Class?

HI,

The above photograph's are of a medal found amongst my Wife's Grandfather's things. He served with allied forces during WW2 and unfortunately none of the family know how the medal came to be in his possession. He did not survive very long after the War.

Is it an Iron Cross Second Class?

Its a shame the Medal cannot be linked back to an individual.

Unfortunately no ribbon, yet. My mother and Father in law are still going through his things, perhaps we will be lucky enough to find it within.
