Need help identifying and authenticating gold Nazi medal

Howdy folks,

Found this medal whilst cleaning out my grandfather's basement yesterday. Looks like a gold Nazi medal, but I have no clue if it's genuine or not or what the actual medal was for. Does anyone know?

Originals are very rare. This one I think
is a old Copy from the firm Souval.
Souval was also active in WW2- but
after the war continued to produce
TR medals. These are collectible but
value not near Originals from the WW2
period. Still very nice - next best- to
a original.

Bummer. Was hoping it was a genuine piece. Which pointers can one use to tell
whether this thing is real or not? Just out of curiosity.
