    waldi radener luftwaffe grouping

Just picked up this grouping attributed to Waldi Radener, ace on the western front. Captain Radener had 39 confirmed kills and 16 unconfirmed kills, all in the west. later in the war, he flew the Me262 and after the war, joined the west german airforce. He died in a jet aircraft test flight in '57.

I found this group interesting, as it has HUNDREDS of documents (including confirmation of all his kills and notices from the RAF about his presence in the sector), a "weird" worn RK (Schickle), and an unusual "kill map", marking the locations of his victories.

All in all, a pretty comprehensive grouping that came with the awards in issued cases as well as a folder with reams of documents. There were a few of his fathers awards from WW1 as well.

The photos are crap, as they are from my phone and I was too lazy to pull out a good camera.

Hi, I believe this was sold by Hermann-Historica this year, correct?

                      Congrats on your grouping

                        Yes- on Herman Historica

With the auction premium and the dollar/euro valuation, it was a little pricey, but is an extensive grouping with loads of documents. Due to his surviving the war and surrendering in the west, he was able to save all the documents and awards with cases. Further, with his continued service in the west german air force, he kept the documents which would be relevant to his "resume" as a pilot.

                        Thanks!

                          Great looking group.

Very interesting that the EK1 was awarded in 1943. It's an early Zimmermann/Godet type and I know a few awards of this type that are earlier. Further evidence to me that the early-type awards were given later which seems only logical to me.

Is it marked (below the catch or under the pin)?
                          Best regards,

Looking for ROUND BUTTON 1939 EK1 Spange cases (LDO or PKZ)
