    Ek/rk

    Spring has finally come to the UK! There is nice lighting out today so I thought I'd grab the camera and take a few shots of one of my favourite items. An EKII upgrade to an RK, with a less common original RK case......

              Very nice, Harry! Do you know anything about the original owner?

                'stubby' push button and uncommon 'pointed' catch release.....

                  Thanks George,
                  These items did not come to me together. I received the cross which was minus its suspension loop, and Dave K. gave me the RK upgrade loop/ring, which seemed to pair with the cross perfectly. The case is from the estate of an SS officer and has unquestionable provenance. I thought the whole lot just looked well together!

                    Any thoughts on the origins of that "800" marked ring? If this was a jeweller's addition to facilitate a field worn piece, why would they put an "800" stamp on it? Also, any better shots of the loop? It looks like tapered tips like an S&L, but the "800" looks a little larger. You have several S&L RKs. How does this compare side by side with those "800" marked loops? Thanks- not a self purported expert here, just wondering. Very nice piece! Did you get that from Dave?

                        another shot of the cross, it has that nice camber or convexity to the iron core.....

                          The small ring seems to have the same width dimension as the suspension loop.

                            Loop = 1.6mm, small ring = 1.45mm
