    EK1 Spange combo Godet

    Heey guys,

This has been offered for auction by Ratisbons. I have never seen a L/50 marked Spange in 10+years of collecting, I would like to have some opinions on this piece before I will bid,

    Thanks alot,

    Chris

          Hi Chris,

I've never seen a L/50 EK I spange before either (or an EK I marked "silber" instead of the more common "800" (or whatever) silver grading for that matter so wait for the pros but I love the look of this spange & combo. It was recently shown here in a thread on the SS uniform & insignia forum as part of a larger group attributed to Erich von dem Bach-Zelewski

          Good luck

          JC

I would have asked the jeweler to have another go at the soldering... with the spange properly centred, but that's me.

I believe this is a good rare spange. I have seen one marked L/52, and a combo such as this owned by a notable collector/dealer (I tried to buy it!) up to this point I thought they were marked L/52 - 800 (this is only the third I've seen) I had pictures, but for the life of me, I cannot find them!
I hope someone else can enlighten us, it looks such a beautiful combo
              regards

                    Thanks guys for your opinions,

I do like the piece, did anyone ever see other Godet EK1 spanges ?
What about the EK1 itself, is that a typical Godet piece ?

There are a number of photos shown in the auction -- have you been able to do a close comparison of the two? Maybe using the offset soldering of the spange as a telltale indicator.

I tried to do the same with the DKiG - there seems to be a notable difference of how the starbursts line up on the 9 o'clock and 11 o'clock arms. I couldn't get good enough resolution to see a clear difference though...

                        Very interesting!

Over the years I have never seen such a combo with two screw backs, but thats maybe me, now I´ve seen this one here on the top and I found a second one for auction at Andres Thies, please have a look at this, in my opinion this combo looks really nice, I believe the above mentioned sample shows the same setup like the one on my pictures here, taken from the upcoming Andres Thies auction.

Last one, this combo shows an extreme nice frosting, which I like most!

This is a known Deumer screw back spange.
