    Hi Darrell,

I was thinking the pin looked like a Zimmer, but isn't the hinge sort of low?? Is it just a miscue during assembly?

Well at first I figured it to be a Grossman:
      Grossmann & Co.

But the beaded frame doesnt match.

The pin is a little different length on the Zimmerman, but the beaded frame is a pretty close match. The hinge is about the correct position also:

      C.F. Zimmermann

      Whatcha figure?

Well, of course I sold my Zimmer, so nothing in hand. I'll pop out some reference tomorrow. To tired to mess with it now. I just don't remember my hinge as being that low. The forum photos do look like a match though.

George must be napping. I know he's got a few.

I certainly appreciate your comments. I've been comparing the first EKI to the other two and have noticed that its swastika is in lower relief and not centered; also that the beading is much wider. The frame is also thinner. It also looks like the frame was painted black at some time. Are these the abnormalities by which you determined it is a fake? I'm trying to learn.

            Hi Harway,

you are on the right way with your thoughts.
            Whats not good:
            - curve in the frame
            - body structure of date numbers
            - hindge, catch and needle in that combination. Shape of the needle.
            - shape of the cross. Compare the arms and the curve of them with the other ones.
I hope it could be of some help.

            Best Franki

              Harvey,

Your first cross is an old Rudolf Souval copy. The shape of the pin is completely incorrect and a sure sign of the Souval handiwork. If you examine the pin, it is a round wire which has been machine pressed into shape to flatten the hinge flange and the center section. This was commonly done on Rudolf Souval products of the 1960's and 1970's.

As all know the first is a type 1950-60 made. The second is not a Zimmerman or Godet. It can be a 11 not shure!. Third is a nice L/11.
