Hi Schönbeck
Wait for other opinions to be sure but personally I'm not so sure its bad...
Your picture is not "head on" but it looks like a close relative to a 16mm ribbon bar version (with 2 clips on the back instead of a stickpin) mounted on 25mm ribbon that I have. Note the detail isnt that great on mine either but these were never intended for such magnification in the first place and yours could just be a later strike or show more wear
Cheers

Nice one Ralph with great detail...
12mm? It looks to be the same variant as the middle one of the top row in the attached picture (also shown at the left of the second row). I have some 9, 12 and 16mm minis for ribbon bars and lapel pins and I agree some are better than others

I have not measured it but you can compare it in this photo with a regular EK II spange, and a Prinzen.

Thanks for the additional pictures Ralph: beautiful spange set
Yes yours looks the same size as mine (about 1/2 Prinzen size). The toned Schmidhaussler is something else; most spanges have a rather thin silver plating that wears off to tombac easily but these must have an extra thick plating because they just tone beautifully once the "new silver/white wash" wears off. Your smallest mini seems to have the same "round belly" as my 2 Boerger (?) stick pins: amazing detail for such a small piece
Thanks again
JC
