    Such a Dilema

You collect a certain award or item and something comes up for sale that would fit right into your preferred collection field. The trouble is its a couple of thousand euros more than you know its worth however despite this your heart is telling you that this particular item does not come around that often. Should you pay the extra money or wait for the same thing at a better price. Thats the dilemma. The item I am thinking about is a 6 rivet, small pin, mirror reverse early Deschler DKiG in its original small box. Nice condition but 8500 euros, sigh

Wow, this one is for sure not a bargain...
I would say: If You HAVE the money and You can accept that this item MAYBE will not sell easy to this price in the future and You REALLY want it - just take it!
I have DK like this since many years and still love it.

    Best, Peter

      No don't buy it.
In todays economy that's a ridiculous price.
The six rivet dkig is rare but certainly available from time to time,
and for a much better price.
Use your mind and invest wisely.

I would never buy it for that price,

Thats like 25-40% more then that its worth. If you really want it, go for it but realise you will take a big hit when you sell it on.

Surely this is one time when you should listen to your brain, and your heart bedamned!

A few hundred euros perhaps can be absorbed but a few thousand? Why that is like the cost of a decent DKIG/DKIS on its own.

As the learned fellows before me have said, this is way over the value of the item. And I can guarantee that you are not going to live for the 100 years or so that it is going to take for the cross to appreciate in value to that amount.

Thank you Nightstalker, you have brought me to my senses. Its such a beautiful award but as you say they do come up from time to time. its a stupid price 8500. I have found the small case alone which I may get instead for my L52 Zimmernan even thats 1800 euros. Sigh

Offer him EUR 6000.– including registered postage, and not a cent more, and I´m pretty sure you will get it!

As Ludwig suggested offer less. However, it has been my collecting experience that eventually another example will come around. Patience is the key

                    Hi Gary,

If I would be a russian milioner I will buy it without problem. I am not, so I must think to have a good price to resell it one day.
