Schinkel EK11 one piece

I have a one piece 1939 EKI. It is the type with the peebled core and I believe it is 800 silver though it is not marked as such. The pin is silver plated steel. I could send you photo's.

I also have a one piece 39 EKII. It's different from the one that Allan shows.

Before his death, Bill Stumpf and I discussed this cross as being very similar in construction, details and finish to the one he had with some provenance relating to one of the Auxillary Cruisers. The Orion I believe. I had sent Bill some pictures and he expressed interest in seeing my cross firsthand. We were going to compare both in hand at a previous SOS. Unfortunately time wasn't on his side.

There are interesting pictures in one of Jak Mallmann's naval books that shows a sailor casting 39 EKIIs for award to sailors aboard ship far from home port. Bill had one of the original pictures that was shown in print. For the life of me I can't seem to remember now which book and which page. I remember it being on the left hand page. I'll try to find the refence and report back the info.

Just more thoughts.

from the photos the cross looks o.k. but as mentioned a possible repaint / touch up ( 9 O`clock arm ) it appears to have a stippled centre ?? though i am no photo expert my self i belive some better photos would benefit all.
Here are a couple of hastily snapped shots of my example first the reverse.

This (below) might be the pic Tony is talking about.

I visited Bill Stump a couple of years ago and photographed all of his EKs. Let me look around and see if I can find the one which was made on the Orion.

On the 9 Oclock arm there is a n area which looks `touched up` unless it is some sort of stain ????'Ashley
