    Help identifying ribbon bar

Hi, I recently purchased a scanner to scan my old family photos and I had scanned a photo of my great grandfather who served in the 7th SS Prinz Eugen and 21st SS Skanderbeg and noticed some new details I wasn't able to see before. There is a ribbon bar and I believe it to be a Iron Cross 2nd Class ribbon bar. I came to this conclusion by the coloration of it compared to the rest of the tunic and helped narrow down my options. I know that for the most part they were worn from the button but I have seen multiple photos where just the ribbon bar is in wear. Here is a close up and a more wide view. Any opinions on what you guys think it might be and if you agree wit my conclusions are greatly appreciated. Thanks again, Will

I'll post the pictures as soon as I get home. Uploading pictures on mobile is just a pain. I'm unable to paste the link in the image link box.

A bit hard to say anything with confidence as the picture is quite grainy. You wouldn't have more pictures, documents or something else?

Yes, I've seen soldiers wearing a ribbonbar for the EK2 if they had one, but usually they were soldiers who had the EK1 or a higher award.

+1 Awfully grainy; at first glance looks to be a solid color with white stripes - west wall possibly?

It can't be westwall as he was in Austria until 1942 where he transferred to Berlin-Lictherfelde with the 2nd Company SS Kraftfahrer 121. Then he transferred to SS Kaeserne Nürnberg with the SS NEA. The only other option I can think of would be the Anschluss medal which makes sense as well as he served with the SA Grüppe Hilfswerk Nordwest. Unfortunately this is the only clear photo I have of him in his Waffen SS uniform. A little bit of back story as to why I don't have much of his items in my possession is that his widow gave all his military related items to my great uncle Fred as he was the boy of the two children. However he didn't care much for them and when a surprise flood hit their apartment all of the items were damaged slightly and instead of salvaging them, he threw them away. There was an SA Dagger, supposedly an SS one, his SA sports medals and tinnies, and multiple photos of him during the war. I believe there was also his official death card sent out during the war which would be very rare considering he died during his service in the Skanderbeg. The thing is, he would have had to have recieved the medal during 1943 as that's when he begun his service.

I see. I saw that if a soldier was higher ranking he would wear the EK II like this. His rank when he finished in the SA was as a Sturmführer and in the Waffen SS as an Oberscharführer if that helps at all.
