    Knights cross grouping

I have this group from a KC Major Oskar -Hubert Dennhardt .The KC appears to be a Steinhauer 4 935.It has the 800 mark , 4 and on the ribbon loop 935.He was awarded the KC and went on to get the Oakleaves on 9 th May 1945 A DAY after the war ended.I have his West German medal bar with the Oakleaves on it.Another great piece is his Infantry Assault badge awarded in gold...It has a maker mark JB & Co. which I believe is a JULIUS BAUER & Co .The back of the wartime photo says the award is a gold one.So if anyone has info on gold Infantry Assault badges please comment on it.

That is not a 935-4 but rather a dipping ring fake. Who sold it to you?

That Knights Cross is not a genuine example made before May 1945, sorry.

Dennhardt is not a legal holder of the Oakleaves. He might have been recommended, but the recommendation had not been processed/approved, to the best of my knowledge. One might doubt he wore a ribbon bar to his Bw Uniform with an award he was never officially/legally bestowed with.

The Infantry Assault Badge in "GOLD" is probably owed to some confusion and misinformation. Correspondents many times write what you tell them, they don't know any better...

Veit Scherzer writes regarding Dennhardt's Oakleaves:

"Major Domschak asked on 238 April the AOK East Prussia: "Stement from AK and army required!" Those evidently did not arrive until war's end. Ther is no trace of any awarding. It is interesting that Dennhardt is neither in the Proposal Book for the higher grades nor in the Proposal Book for Knights Crosses (starting from # 5100) mentioned. Regarding the Ordensgemeinschaft deutscher Ritterkreuztraeger (OdR Fellgiebel) the awarding was made via "Dönitz-Decree". Regarding a statement of the WASt. (Wehrmachtsauskunftsstelle) is such an award not legally effective. The award number "870 was alloced by the OdR of which Dennhardt is a member."

As Markus already stated, no Oakleave winner of the Third Reich, rather a post-war and illegal award.

When is that letter from Angolia dated?

Are you sure the "gold" color isn´t some kind of protective lacquer, that has turned yellow during the decades?

What did Angolia say about the KC?
