Can someone help me identify this!

    http://imgur.com/a/Y6pOh

My grandfather gave me this Iron Cross, I don't think it's genuine, but still interested to know exactly what it is. Site was referred to by a friend. Thanks all.

No serial or anything around the ring.

Unless it is a rare maker, $120.-$150. but the family connection would be worth more to me.

Agreed, my grandfather told me if I ever need to go back to school or whatever have you to feel free to sell it - I'm not going to because I find it absolutely awesome.

Check the large ring with a magnifying glass and see if it has a number on it, like 4 or 113.
              Best regards,

A remote chance there could be a mark under the ribbon .

I see it it's 1?3 - it looks like 173 to me, but it's pretty smalll.

Looks like a Iron Cross Second Class 1939 of maker Hermann Aurich

Means the cross was manufactured by Hermann Aurich in Dresden after about 1941.

Price wise ... in that range .
Knowing the number range - 142 is the highest number confirmed (PKZ) ... which rules out it being 173 .
A lot of times these small numbers are purely or partially stamped which makes them hard to read .
Subtle differences between crosses that takes a lot of time to learn .
Some are really good at it .
