    EK 2 In Good Condition

Found this yesterday in a shop for a good price.

Very good condition with a quite good packet too.

I think it's good so what does the WAF think?

    Frank & Reif of Stuttgart??

Sorry about the picture quality, hard to photograph due to reef being bright.

    Thanks

Well, after all my bad luck recently at least the cross is good.!!

So wrong EK2 for the packet?? Does the packet look good though??
I've not had an EK2 packet before.

        Thanks

The packet looks good IMO. It is possible that the dealer may have just placed these two together for added value.

I know a few who have bought empty packets and done just this.

I know him very well & he really would have told me if he had done that.
He did me a very good, cost deal for the lot anyway. He could have just given me the EK2 without the packet for the small amount it cost me.

He told me that is how it came to him, which I do believe. With no maker mark to the ring I really think he thought it to be Frank & Reif to move it on.

I was pretty certain it was a good EK2 by looking at it closely.

            Thanks people.

The cross has a 23 Frame and a Meybauer core.

Is that normal, to have a different frame maker to the core?

For these makers, yes. They had a working relationship. You'll find more '23' frames with Meybauer cores than with the "23' core, IMO. This has been my experience anyway.

                    Hello,

It's a very nice EK2 and a very nice packet. I like seeing the recipient's name inked in on the packet. It's not a matched set but no big deal IMO. Maybe someday you will pick up a F&R EK2 and then you can mate it with the packet. Until then no harm in keeping these together.

                    Best regards,
                    Tom

To me it is a perfectly good Iron Cross.
