Again any help here for someone pretty new to these awards.... is it authentic? and if so, who made it and what value would it have?

If anything, perhaps this is a late war piece? Below is a slide show that has more pix if anyone needs them to say if it's good or not. Also, there's the box in the slideshow...

    With compliments and regards,

So perhaps a "put together" by Floch? (sp?)

I hope no one thinks me flippant for asking again, but I really don't have any idea if this is a genuine cross or not. I'm curious why nobody have commented anything about it; is it really such an obvious fake I shouldn't be asking for id help??

      regards, mitch

          Hey Mitch,

It's not that it's so obvious, it's that no one quite knows. Opinions are divided.
          Best regards,

            Mitch,

your cross is a so-called Orth-style L15 as described already years ago in The Iron Cross 1. Class on pages 156. It has an Orth frame and an Orth core, but a slightly different pin system.
The L15 marking (not L/15) is a misunderstanding of the assigned PKZ code "15" - a mistake that was also done by S&L. L15 is not Schickle nor is everything marked L15 "Floch" - not even close.
There are numerous examples of the L15-marking outside of the realm of the KVK and EK and by studying the full extend of the medals handled by the PKZ one will realize what was going on.

Thanks to all four of you for your responses! I'm starting to get the picture.

I am slowly learning about these awards and having fun collecting them in the process, but there is a lot to learn!

I'm a jeweler by trade and have several excellent/accurate scales at my disposal.... this cross weighs exactly 21.46 grams.

                Much thanks for the comments/help!

                Regards, mitch

For me this cross is not unequivocal ...

                    Hi Peter,

I'm on the same page But due to Floch use L15 Pins, most of the collectors are skeptic.

                    http://www.ek1-dna.de/fakes-part-1----kopien-teil-1.php

Your article on Floch is very good

I would personal go for an authentic cross from Orth, but the L15 mark crosses, bring the Alarm for most of the collectors and that is why the priceses is rated on 100 Euro +/- and that is the reason to put it on suspect with "?" to be on the safe side

                    http://www.ek1-dna.de/-l15--unknown-...suspect--.html

And final it was the price where I let it go.
