Hi Mitch,
Nothing wrong with the cross that I can see as far as originality. As to a maker, it may be hard to tell if there is no number on the ring, though there are some KVK collectors that are good enough to do that. You might try checking this website to see if you can find it there, but I've never been able to distinguish details well enough to do that myself for unmarked crosses - http://www.kvk2-dna.de/.
