    Knights Cross riddon original or not

    From what I have studied up, this KC ribbon is the pre-May 1945, WW2 type.

    I count 23 and 24 on the white section of it. Is this correct ?

    Any help would be appreciated,

    Chris

        It came with this case which has detailed pictures and is discussed in the Cases and Packets section;

            Thanks Mike,

            we all need luck. However, I did not think it would be that hard. From what I have gleaned, original KC ribbons should have 23, 24, 25 or 30 threads in the white section. 25 threads are considered the best of the best. Every thing else is correct i.e. does not glow, correct width, correct edge, correct shape to white section.

            Hopefully, someone who has handled more KC ribbon than myself will confirm this and give me their opinion of the KC ribbon that I have shown images of here.

            Regards,

            Chris

                  It's a somewhat unusual ribbon in that it alternates 24 and 23 loops on the white. I have owned one like this before and sold it cheaper than I would have a textbook 25 loop one. That said I believe it is a wartime example- I'm pretty sure mine came with an early post war S&L cross in a wartime case so likely these are what they had left at end of war.

                  The case looks like 57 type to me- the two halfs being equal thickness also the leatherette isn't what i would expect on a wartime one.

                    Many thanks to cobra-2001, Mobydick and Patrick W for your positive posts and opinion.

                    And to Patrick, thank you for the extra information that in your experience this could be late war KC ribbon, plus your thoughts on the KC case.

                    Much appreciated,

                    Chris
